Love shopping but not on a Burberry budget quite yet? Get thee to a fashion outlet now — here are eight of the best in and around London

This article was originally published in July 2013 and updated on 14 July 2016.

1. Burberry
29-53 Chatham Place, London, E9 6LP
Attracting one million well-dressed visitors a year from around the globe, the Burberry outlet in Hackney is a must-visit for trench coat lovers. Since stock is reduced by 50% or more you could snap up a classic trench at under £200 — still not cheap, but the quality is exceptional.
Open Mon-Sat 10.00-18.00; Sun 11.00-17.00

2. Aquascutum
7-8 Chatham Place, London, E9 6LT
Since you're already in the area, why not pop in to Aquascutum next door? Latin for 'water shield', Aquascutum's waterproof designs will be useful to anyone exposed to the capricious London weather. Cashmere sweaters and well-cut suits are also on offer, and you can expect up to 30% off.
Open Mon-Fri 10.00-18.30; Sat 9.00-18.00; Sun 11.00-17.00

3. Pringle of Scotland
86 Morning Lane, London, E9 6NA
The third designer store in Hackney's new 'fashion hub', knitwear experts Pringle of Scotland sell high-quality cashmere, merino wool and leather clothing. Take note: stock is delivered on Wednesdays.
Open Mon-Sat 10.00-18.30; Sun 11.00-17.00

4. Paul Smith
23 Avery Row, Mayfair, London, W1X 9HB
Small but perfectly formed, this outlet sells samples, previous season and end-of-season stock at a solid 30-50% discount. Stock up on clothes and accessories such as cufflinks, wallets, scarves and handbags adorned with Smith's trademark colourful prints.
Open Mon-Wed, Fri, Sat 10.30-18.30; Thur 10.30-19.00; Sun 13.00-17.30

5. LK Bennett
239 King's Road, London, SW3 5EJ
This small LK Bennett shop along the King's Road looks like any other, but inside you'll find the brand's smart dresses, shoes, jackets and bags at up to 75% off the store price. The stock may be last season but it hardly matters with such a timeless workwear brand.
Open Mon-Sat 10.00-18.30; Sun 12.00-18.00

6. Joseph
53 King's Road, London, SW3 1QN
Franco-Moroccan designer Joseph Ettedgui made retail history with his tailored womenswear and beautifully cut trousers. In this outlet you'll find his label's clean-cut designs at a 70% discount.
Open Mon-Sat 10.00-18.30; Sun 12.00-18.00

7. Topshop**now closed
10b The Broadwalk Centre, Station Road, Edgeware, HA8 7BD
Out in the sticks in the Northern Line's zone five, the Topshop clearance store is admittedly a bit of a trek. While its jaw-dropping 'buy one get one free' policy has sadly been discontinued, everything in the store is sold at sale price and there are some real gems to be found. Worth a look if you're in the area.
Open Sun-Fri 9.30-17.30; Sat 9.00-17.30

8. Bicester Village
50 Pingle Drive, Bicester, OX26 6WD
OK. It's not, strictly speaking, in London. But this discount wonderland is less than an hour's train ride away from Marylebone station. Agent Provocateur, Alexander McQueen, Dior, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, Mulberry, Prada, Vivienne Westwood... all heavily discounted. No wonder the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan.
Open Mon-Fri, Sun 10.00-19.00; Sat 9.00-20.00
